Vegan Gravy
This gravy tastes just like the gravy you eat at thanksgiving on your turkey and mashed potatoes, but there were no animals harmed in the making! (Just a little vegetarian brain washing right there!) Give it a try even if you don't mind harming animals!!!
Prep Time 10 minutes mins
Cook Time 25 minutes mins
- 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
- 1/3 cup Onion chopped-Any onion will do. I used yellow, white or sweet
- 5 cloves Garlic minced
- 1/2 cup Flour all purpose
- 4 teaspoons Nutritional Yeast
- 4 Tablespoons Liquid Aminos or Soy Sauce
- 2 cups vegetable broth or more to desired thickness
- 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Heat oil in saucepan over medium heat.
Saute onion and garlic until soft and translucent, 5 minutes or so.
Add flour, nutritional yeast and liquid aminos and stir until mixed. This will become a smooth paste.
Whisk in the vegetable broth gradually.
Add sage, salt and pepper
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer.
Stir continuously for about 10 minutes or until thickened.
This is a fairly thick gravy. Modify by adding more broth.
I really love this gravy. From what I remember, over 30 years ago, it tastes very similar to turkey gravy that is served over your mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving.
