Empty Nest With Me

Easter Bunny Land

When I was in elementary school, I recited an Easter poem for a speech contest. To this day, I can recite that poem, word for word. I vividly remember the old book it was written in and the beautiful picture of Easter Bunny Land that I would stare at for hours. As a little one, I would imagine visiting this place, "of great renown". It was magical for me as a child so I'm sharing it with you. Maybe you have a little one you'd like to share this with.

The book belonged to my big brother, Jeff and I would borrow it from him.

I still have the book but it is old and tattered and barely legible.

The sketch was in black and white and the pages were yellowed, even back when I was a little girl. I did my best to recreate that sketch, below.

Easter Bunny Land

Where does the Easter Bunny go when Winter comes with ice and snow? What does he do the whole year through?

I often wondered just like you until one day I came upon and Irish Elf called Leprechaun, who learning my name was Paddy O’Shay kindly offered to show me the way to this magic place of great renown, known as Easter Bunny Town.

We walked right in with no trouble at all. For quickly we were only two feet tall.

There was hustle, bustle and scurry and I heard Bunny say, “Please do hurry. The eggs muse be boiled until just right and painted with colors gay and bright. Then in boxes and baskets they go for little friends that we all know. “

“So, kind helpers, we cannot play. We must be ready before Easter Day.”

I turned to my guide, but just as I feared that mischievous elf had disappeared!

Then I felt sleepy and what do you think?

I awoke in my bed as quick as a wink!

Hi Michelle! I’ll have to show you the book when you come visit. I don’t remember if he ever really read it. I do see that someone scribbled out the eyes in one of the pictures, haha! On the inside cover, it has his name and the date. I really loved the book and looked at the pictures all the time.
      Love you xoxo Jill
