Tip Toeing Through the Tulips and the Mud!

· Tulip Festival at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm ·

A new Spring tradition for my family is attending the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn, OR.

I mean…just look at this magical place!

It is pure magic even in the mud! Mind you, it’s not always muddy. This year it was and we are not talking tiny mud puddles here and there. We are talking: cars getting stuck in the parking lot, white dogs turned brown and long-dress-donned women doing face plants into muck then strolling through the farm devoid of dignity!

The farm this year was a contrast of Beauty and the Beast. I would not have missed it. It was worth all of the muddy splashes on my clothes and the filthy floor mats. If you can, you must go…just make sure you wear your Bog boots!

I went to the festival twice this year. The first time during normal business hours and the second time we got a special pass to arrive before the gates opened so we could photograph the sunrise and fly the drone.

Day 1

The first day was fun because it was full of great people, braving the mud. Some remembered their mud boots but we actually saw women walking through the mud in their kitten heels and wedges! Now that is brave!

With Iphone in tow…we got some great shots!

So many people had their dogs with them. We could never do that because Charlie and Bailey are wild banshees...very un-similar to these civilized Golden Retriever types!

As you gaze at the blazing red field of Tulips with hot air balloon majestically hovering in the distance, you don’t really even notice the mud!

Tulips and Doggies and Mud…Oh My!

And Elephant Ears…

Day 2

This was a completely different experience. No crowds, no mud. Just a lovely sunrise and flying drone…on day 2 we got even better shots!

Nate’s drone was living it’s best life getting sunrise shots of Mt. Hood

My Vlogger, Chloe in action…lookin’ cute as ever!

We got lucky and got to watch the sleeping giant come to life and fly off into the sunrise. There’s something so magical about hot air balloons!

I’m always so happy to be with the kids…whatever we do… but especially walking a beautiful garden.

We can always count on Gavin and Nate to be funny goofballs…

And we can always count on Chloe and Nate to be sweet and romantic

I snapped a shot of this sweet little kiss surrounded by the romantic red tulips

The Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm is a family farm that began in 1950. It is 40 acres and it is open to the public for one magical month of the year. There is something for everyone from live music to food to a play area for the kids. There are bulbs and fresh tulips to buy and a sweet gift shop.

I can never get enough of flowers and gardens…check out my Garden here on the blog.

If you travel to Oregon in the month of April, it is a must see!

Chloe posted a Vlog of the festival on her YouTube channel. Check it out!

Life is short. Make sure you stop and smell the flowers!

xoxo Jill

I definitely have a new goal now, to go to Oregon in April! I traveled to Oregon a few years ago, but had no idea this was something you could go see. I cannot get over how gorgeous those sunrise pictures are… that is heaven. I hope you had a great time with your family, I love that picture of Chloe and Nate, and Nate and Gavin, so funny.

Hi Sandra! It really was beautiful and my heart was full seeing all that beauty with the kids! I love the color blue too. One of my favorite flowers is delphiniums. They come in every shade of blue and purple. They are so pretty, do you have delphiniums?

What a wonderful show! I must mark the next April in my calendar, I see it complicated but things may change so much that in a year I am walking among tulips haha.
Chloe and Nate are so cute together, you see they have a really lovely relationship.
You also make a very fun family all together.
Thank you very much for the advice you gave me in the last comments we exchanged, Jill.

    Hii Jill!

What a wonderful show! I am amazed by the beauty of this place !!! I love tulips, they are my favorite flowers along with sunflowers. I loved all the photos, they’re lovely!

Here in São Paulo there’s this small town called Holambra, it’ s known as the city of flowers. Every year there’s this huge festival called Expoflora that happens in early September, it’s really really beautiful. It’s the biggest flower exhibition from Latin America, there are virtually all kinds of flowers, including tulips and some fields there looks a lot like the fields of the Wooden Festival.

Holambra’s flowers are exported all over Brazil, including the city where I was born, which is relatively far from where I currently live. This year is going to be the second time that I’m going there and I’m really looking forward to it!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, xoxo Fer!

I love sunflowers too. They are so cheerful!
Wow, Expoflora sounds amazing! I will have to put that on my list of adventures! I’m going to “Google” it to see if I can get a look at some of those lovely flowers! I hope you will tell me all about it when you go!

Have a wonderful weekend! xoxo Jill
